Chapter 6

A Decision that will change the Battle

      After Scarlet made that promise to herself to kill Shadow Dawn and his friends, she decided to change into something more comfortable because she wasn’t the kind of girl who likes to wear jewelry, dresses, and stuff like that and be all formal. She was the type of girl who liked to have fun and wanted to go on adventures around the world. She switched out of her dress into her black tank top with neon pink lining with the straps red that showed off a little of her stomach.  She had on neon pink gauntlets that were fingerless that went up to her elbows with a sais blades on each of her arms that connected to her gauntlet. She also wore a red skirt that went down to her knees with a brown belt and purple stockings. She then slipped on her black rollerskate boots with neon pink lining on them that went up to her knees with boosters on the back of the rollerskate boots and the wheels having neon pink highlights on them with the inner wheel being red with neon pink bones that formed an X inside the wheel.

After she changed into her gear, she opened her window and looked for a way out of here. She soon found a way and then jumped out of the window and landing gracefully on top of one of the roofs of a house without making a sound. After she landed, she looked ahead seeing the wall and gate that surrounded the kingdom and then found a way of how to get over the wall. She activated the boosters on her rollerskates and soon blazed over the rooftops of the houses gracefully jumping over house over house and then when she had enough momentum, she jumped on one of the chimneys and propelled herself upward and soon landed on top of the wall giving her a good view of the forest and the undead kingdom in the distance far away.

She jumped off the wall and landed in a tree landing gracefully on the branches and soon on the ground a good distance away from the guards who were guarding the entrance of the gates. “*sigh* alright, since the Dark kingdom is only a few hundred miles away from the Undead kingdom and if I just head north from here, I should be back before my brother wakes up.”.  She smirked knowing what to do now and activated her boosters again, zipping through the forest at high speed, but what Scarlet didn’t know was someone was keeping a watchful eye on her and followed her.

*Meanwhile at the Crystine base*

Shadow was having a tough time sleeping and soon woke up breathing heavy for a few minutes before calming down “*sigh* these nightmares have got to stop, I’ve got to let go of the past and move on.” Shadow looked at his clock to see that it was only 2:45 in the morning “It’s only 2:45? *sigh* at least things can’t get any worst. * just then the alarm went off in the base which meant there was an intruder near the base. “*sigh* I guess I was wrong.” Shadow got up and went to the chamber room to look at the screens to see what the cameras caught on video. Shadow didn’t bother changing into his armor because it could’ve been a defect in the system. When Shadow reached the chamber room, he turned around to see the others behind him very tired.

“Alright, who would be stupid enough to try and attack us at 2:45 in the morning, don’t people know what sleep is?!?!” Metallic said very tired and very irritated.

“Calm down Metallic, *yawns* you’re not the only one who is very tired.” Inferno said as he was just as tired as Metallic was except not that much irritated as him.

“Yeah, so Shadow who are what are we facing this time bandits, soldiers, monsters, golems, dragons?” Hydra asked. The rest of his friends looked back at him giving him a look at the last suggestion “Hey, you never know what we’re facing.” He said as he shrugged his shoulders.

Shadow pushed the button on the console for the monitor to play back the footage from the hidden camera and all of them saw was a red and pink blur speeding by “Huh, what the heck is that?”

“Hmm I don’t know, but whatever it is, it has speed on its side.” Metallic said as he observed the footage that was played.

“Well by the looks of it, it looks like he or she must be working for Drake because from the direction he or she is going and tracing back their direction, they came from the Dark kingdom.” Inferno said as he analyzed the data.

Shadow narrowed his eye at the screen taking in the information and coming up with a strategy. “Alright here’s the plan, me and Hydra will go and take a look to see who or what it is. Inferno, Metallic you’ll stay here just in case this is a trap and we need reinforcements.

“We gotcha Shadow, right Metallic?” Inferno asked and looked at Metallic who had his mechanical arms crossed and gave a nod which meant yes.

“Alright Hydra, suit up and be prepared for what we might against.”.

“Got it Shadow.” Hydra said as he went to his dorm and changed his clothes and put on his armor and grabbed his crystaline bow and lance sword.

Shadow went back to his dorm as well and put on his armor as well as grabbed his crystaline sword. He soon started walking down the hallway to the teleporter platform where he met Hydra there waiting for him and soon both now waited to be teleported. “Alright Metallic, send us to the last location of where that blur was.” Shadow said.

“Got it Shadow.” Metallic said and typed in the coordinates that blurr was last seen and a bright light beamed down on Shadow and Hydra and soon were teleported to the location.

“You sure that it was a good idea to send Shadow to see what that thing was?” Inferno asked.

Metallic leaned back in his chair, crossed his arms, and closed his eyes “Well first off he’s our leader and second he has Hydra with him.”.

“Well that’s true, but what if it’s a dark soldier or creature that belongs to the dark kingdom? You know Shadow’s history with them, right?”.

Metallic thought about what Inferno said and he did have a good point, but he still kept his calm “Well if that’s true then Shadow and Hydra can take care of them and Shadow knows how to keep his cool I mean what can go wrong?” he asked.

*Meanwhile in the forest*

Shadow and Hydra arrived at their destination and it was dead silent since it was the middle of the night “Stay on your guard Hydra, you never know what we’re dealing with.” He said with caution.

“Got it.” Hydra said and then noticed something out of the corner of his eye and saw a pair of lines embedded in the grass “Hey Shadow, check this out.”

Shadow walked over to where the ice archer was and saw the lines that were embedded in the ground “What is that?” He asked seeing the marks in the ground.

“If I had to guess, whatever that thing we saw on the screen was, it left behind a trail and it seems that this trail is fresh.” Hydra stated.

Shadow pondered about what Hydra just said “Interesting, good eye Hydra. C’mon let’s follow the path, hopefully it will lead us to where this intruder is.”.

“Right.” Hydra said as they followed the path to see who or what this thing was.”.

Shadow and Hydra have been following the path for about ten minutes with having no luck finding the culprit until they heard a frustration yell “You hear that Hydra?” Shadow asked.

“Yeah, I think it’s best if we stay on high alert just in case.” Hydra said as he switched out bow for his lance sword.

Shadow grabbed his sword and readied it for whatever comes their way “I agree, but I suggest that we keep a low profile too just in case. Shadow said and Hydra gave a nod. They soon started getting closer to the noise passing by the trees and hid behind some big bushes. When they look over the bush to see who it was they were shocked to see a girl who was about their age with red hair and neon pink highlights yelling in frustration, and smashing some boulders with the sais blades on her arms.

“Ahhhh! How the heck did I get lost in this dumb forest!!” Scarlet yelled and smashed some more boulders into rubble. “How am I supposed to kill Shadow Dawn now if I can’t even find where he is!!” She yelled as she and slashed more boulders into rubble.

Shadow and Hydra both looked shock to hear this and Hydra looked at Shadow and smirked “Looks like you’ve got an admirer Shadow.” Hydra said jokingly.

Shadow kept his eye on the red headed girl who was throwing a rage fit at some random boulders “More like an assassin who wants my head.” Shadow said as he still kept his eye on her.

“True, but you got to admit, even though this red head is more of a hot head, she is pretty cute.” Hydra said as he looked at Shadow with a smirk.

“Now’s not the time to flirt with girl’s cupid, we have a job to do and judging by the skates she’s wearing, she’s the one who made the lines in the grass back there.” Shadow said as he was focused on the situation.

“Okay first off, I’m not cupid, I don’t look anything like him! He’s a baby with wings and I’m a sixteen year old-“ Hydra was stopped in his rant as Shadow punched him in the arm “Ow!! What was that for?!?!”

Well first off, It was just a joke, and second your yelling and ranting almost blew our cover.” Shadow said as he looked over the bush to see if they were noticed and surprisingly Scarlet was still yelling and kept smashing some boulders to rubble.

“Oh…..sorry about that Shadow, but do you have a plan on how to cool her off and capture her?” Hydra asked curiously.

“Yes, I do, here’s the plan.” Shadow leaned in and whispered the plan to Hydra “Got it?” he asked.

“Got it.” Hydra said as he put away his lance sword and switched it out for his bow and had an arrow ready “Ready when you are Shadow.”.

Shadow gave Hydra a nod and started walking out in the open towards her not expecting of what might happen but he kept his guard up just in case.

After Scarlet started blowing off steam, she started to calm down a bit “*sigh* I got to find the Undead Kingdom and kill Shadow Dawn before my brother wakes up.” She said slightly annoyed still.

“Actually, the Undead Kingdom is only 100 miles north from here.”.

Scarlet turned around to see who said that to her and a little nervous thinking that it was one of the guards that spotted her and followed her here but her eyes went wide she it was the person she was looking for, Shadow Dawn. She glared at him and her eyes changed from blue to red “Your Shadow Dawn correct?” she asked making sure it was actually him.

“Yes, that would be me, but what are you doing here trespassing on undead territory?” he asked as he glared at her.

“That’s none of your business!!” Scarlet yelled as she extended the sais blades on her forearms which were now a foot long “Now that you saved me the trouble of finding you, I want to see your blood spill from your body!!!!” She then had the boosters on her skates on and zoomed towards him at high speed ready to slice him to pieces.

Shadow just frowned as she was racing towards him at high speed ready to slice him up “This is going to be easier than I thought because judging by the way she acts and talks, she’s always about just slashing and fighting with her rage rather than plan out a strategy” He thought to himself as his eye shined purple and just stood there waiting for the blow.

Scarlet soon contacted him as she slashed her sais blades through his stomach and chest. She soon deactivated the boosters and came to a stop just a few feet behind him. She turned around to see to blood of her victim spray everywhere, but she was shocked to see that he was still in one piece and his eye was now glowing purple “H-how? How are you still in one piece? My sais blades should’ve killed you!!!” She yelled.

“Well it would’ve killed, but it didn’t. You just got a first glance at one of my powers I like to call Nebula Mist, which makes my body turn into mist and makes me untouchable to any physical attacks.” Shadow explained with a smirk.

Scarlet was surprised by the fact that Shadow can turn his body into mist but then she glared harshly at him as his smirk drove her insane with anger “I couldn’t care less if you can turn into mist or not, I will kill you!!!” She then activated the boosters on her skates again and kept zipping by him slashing at him having no effect on him.

Shadow had his arms crossed as he watched her keep zipping past him, slashing at him with her sais blades for about two minutes which had no effect on him. He soon lost his smirk because he started to find this a little annoying “Just give up red head, you’re not making any progress.” He said getting tired of this.

Scarlet ignored his words and kept on zooming by and kept slashing at him for a while until she got very tired and backed away a few feet from him exhausted but still had her glare on him “*pant* how can you *pant* still be alive *pant* after all that?” She asked as she tried to catch her breath.

Shadow pinched the bridge of his nose in annoyance “Did you not hear what I just said? I’m one with the shadows now, besides if you were to fight me for real, you would be dead in a matter of seconds the way you fight.” He said clearly annoyed.

“Oh really?” She asked as she finally got to catch her breath again “Then why not kill me then?” She asked confused.

“Because we have other plans for trespassers like you.” Shadow said as he gave a nod above Scarlet which left her confused. Suddenly, a blue blur went by and struck the ground right next to Scarlet.

Scarlet looked right next to her feet and saw that it was a crystal blue arrow right next to her. Before she can do anything, the arrow started releasing a blue mist “Hey, what’s with the- “That’s all Scarlet could say as her vision started to get hazy and started to lose her conscious. She then fell to the ground and saw a hazy vision of the person she wanted to kill before she passed out.

After Scarlet passed out, Hydra jumped off the tree branch and landed right next to Shadow with a smirk on his face “Nice shot with the knockout gas Hydra, but how long will the gas last though?” Shadow asked.

“The gas should last for about an hour. Though now looking at her, doesn’t she look familiar to you Shadow?” Hydra asked.

Shadow took a good look with eye and Hydra was right because she did look familiar to him, especially with the red hair “Hmm actually Hydra, call me crazy but I believe we found the princess of the Dark Kingdom.”.

Hydra looked at his leader shocked “Really? What’s the princess of the Dark Kingdom doing here out of all places though?” Hydra questioned knowing that the princess never left her kingdom.

Shadow then picked her off the ground, holding her bridal style “Well judging by what she was yelling about, she wanted to kill me for some reason, but we’ll find out the true reason why she’s here once she wakes up.

“Alright then if you say so.” Hydra said as he tapped the symbol on his chest “Hey Metallic are you still there?”.

“Yeah, we’ve been waiting for the past like ten minutes, what took you guys so long!” Metallic yelled as he was very tired and not in a good mood.

“Calm down Metallic were all tired here, anyways did you guys find or catch the intruder?” Inferno asked.

“Yes, we did in fact, the intruder is actually the princess of the Dark Kingdom.” Shadow said as he was in the conversation as well as he tapped the symbol on his chest as well.

“Really!?! Well then I guess we don’t need to infiltrate the Dark Kingdom then.” Inferno said with some relief as well.

“But my question is why of all places is the princess here in the middle of the night?” Metallic questioned as he was very suspicious.

“I don’t know, but we’ll get answers once we get back to base and when she wakes up.” Shadow said.

“Yeah, so can you just beam us back now? I’m tired and I would really like to go back to bed.” Hydra said as let out a yawn to prove his point.

“For once I agree with you ice head.” Metallic said as Hydra got annoyed at the name “Anyways, transport is coming your way.”.

A bright light then came down on the two and an unconscious Scarlet back to their base and in seconds they disappeared and were teleported back to their base. What the two didn’t know was that Night Devil was watching and saw them take Scarlet back to their base and now knew where they were……...somewhat.

“So, I guess Mystacis was right about Scarlet trying to kill Shadow after all.” Night said to himself as he witnessed the entire scene from high above the branches.

“Told you so.” Mystacis said as he appeared right behind Night Devil while floating in the air.

“What the…. Mystacis, what are you doing here?” Night demanded after getting over his scare from his friend.

“Well first off, I wanted to say I told you so, and second now that Scarlet got herself kidnapped by that failed attempt to kill Shadow, you can kiss your head goodbye Night.” He said with a dark chuckle.

Night glared at Mystacis and even though his face was hidden, he can tell he had a smug look on his face “Not if I have anything to say about that. Listen, it’s only around three o clock in the morning before Drake wakes up and realizes what happened so we have time.” He said and took a deep breath having a look in his eyes as Mystacis knew he was being serious “Mystacis, tell the others to arrive at this destination point to plan out an attack.” Mystacis gave him a nod and soon disappeared to tell the others. Night narrowed his eyes out towards the horizon “You better prepare yourself and your team Shadow Dawn because it’s time we finish something that we started a long time ago.”.
